SPORTS MEDICINE

Sports medicine is a combination of knowledge and skills about the injuries and performances of athletes.  Clinical knowledge is needed to address the immediate needs of a downed athlete on the field of play and how to get the player back in the action.  Proper treatment of an athlete may allow immediate return to play. Orthopaedic surgeons are trained in sports medicine at many levels to assist the athlete in repairing and regaining the performance level they played at prior to the injury.
